This guide sets out the full CeMAP® cost as of October 2026: the Walbrook registration fees, resits and admin charges, Walbrook's optional revision products, and what training providers add on top. CeMAP is a UK-wide qualification, so the fees below apply in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Every official figure was checked on 30 October 2026 on the Walbrook (LIBF) CeMAP page. For what the qualification is and how it is structured, start with the CeMAP qualification guide.
How much does CeMAP cost in 2026?
CeMAP costs £735 in 2026 for full registration with Walbrook, as of October 2026. That fee covers all three modules and five units, the online study materials, the first attempt at every unit exam and an 18-month registration period.
The full fee is the cheapest way to buy the qualification itself. Walbrook calls it "best value" and says it saves £75 against buying the modules separately. The table brings the main CeMAP costs together.
| Cost | Amount (as of October 2026) | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Full CeMAP registration (3 modules, 18 months) | £735 | Yes, or the module fees below |
| CeMAP 1 (FSRE) only | £330 | Alternative to full registration |
| CeMAP 2 (MORT) only | £320 | Alternative to full registration |
| CeMAP 3 (ASEW/ASSC) only | £160 | Alternative to full registration |
| Resit | £120 per unit | Only if you fail a unit |
| CeMAP Revision Tool | £90 / £120 / £180 | Optional |
| Training course from a provider | about £200 to £1,250 for all three modules | Optional |
The fees come from Walbrook's CeMAP page. The course range is our summary of prices published by training providers on 30 October 2026, explained in the training-provider section below.
What a typical budget looks like
Three worked examples show how the total moves with your choices:
| Candidate | Choices | Total |
|---|---|---|
| A: self-study, passes every unit first time | £735 registration | £735 |
| B: self-study, one resit, buys the full Revision Tool | £735 + £120 + £180 | £1,035 |
| C: self-paced online course, one resit | £735 + about £400 course + £120 | about £1,255 |
The biggest variable is not the registration fee but how many resits you need and whether you pay for a course.
Key fact: Older third-party figures such as £690 for full CeMAP or £110 for a resit are out of date. As of October 2026, Walbrook charges £735 and £120.
What does each CeMAP module cost on its own?
Each CeMAP module costs, as of October 2026: £330 for CeMAP 1 (FSRE), £320 for CeMAP 2 (MORT) and £160 for CeMAP 3 (ASEW/ASSC). The three together total £810, which is £75 more than full registration at £735.
| Module | Units | Fee (as of October 2026) | Registration period |
|---|---|---|---|
| CeMAP 1: Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics (FSRE) | FRE1, FRE2 | £330 | 12 months |
| CeMAP 2: Mortgages (MORT) | MRT1, MRT2 | £320 | 12 months |
| CeMAP 3: Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge | ASEW or ASSC | £160 | 12 months |
| All three, bought separately | 5 units | £810 | 12 months each |
| All three, full registration | 5 units | £735 | 18 months in total |
People search for "CeMAP 1 cost" because CeMAP 1 is where most candidates start. At £330 it is the most expensive module, and it is also sold on its own as the Level 4 FSRE award, at the same £330 on Walbrook's FSRE page.
When buying by module makes sense
Module-by-module registration costs more, but it can suit you if:
- your employer is paying for one module at a time;
- you already hold part of CeMAP, or an exemption, and need only the remaining modules;
- you want to pass CeMAP 1 before committing to the rest.
The trade-off is time. Each module gives 12 months from its own registration date, while full registration gives 18 months for all five units.
Exam tip: If you are sure you will finish CeMAP, full registration saves £75 and gives one 18-month window. Buy by module only when the flexibility is worth more than £75 to you.
What is included in the registration fee?
The CeMAP registration fee includes the online study texts, a specimen exam for each unit, a tax table, syllabus updates, the first attempt at each unit exam, a digital certificate on passing and student membership of LIBF (MLIBF) while you study.
Walbrook's CeMAP page lists these study materials as included:
- online study texts for CeMAP 1 and CeMAP 2 (a printed copy can be bought separately on Amazon);
- interactive revision, financial protection content and optional soft skills materials for CeMAP 3;
- unit introduction videos and a student-led discussion forum;
- one specimen exam per unit;
- a weekly study planner, a tax table and syllabus updates;
- the MyLIBF portal and the KnowledgeBank virtual library.
The fee also covers exam entry. "Your first exam is included in the registration fee for each unit", so all five first attempts are paid for. Exams are taken on demand on Brightspace with remote invigilation, so there is no booking fee and no test-centre cost. The CeMAP exam booking guide explains how sitting an exam works.
What the fee does not include:
- resits (£120 each);
- printed study texts;
- extra specimen exams beyond one per unit;
- Walbrook's optional revision products;
- any course from a training provider;
- a paper certificate (the digital one is free).
Key fact: Walbrook issues a digital certificate when you pass. A paper or replacement certificate is an extra charge, listed in its additional fees document.
What do resits and admin cost?
A CeMAP resit costs £120 per unit as of October 2026. Other admin charges are listed in Walbrook's additional fees document: £50 for an exemption, £80 for a remark and clerical check, £125 for feedback and £160 for both.
| Charge | Fee | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Exam resit | £120 per unit | Each attempt after the first |
| Exemption (RPL) based on another qualification | £50 | Only if the exemption is granted |
| Exemption based on experiential learning | £390 | Only if the exemption is granted |
| Remark and clerical check | £80 | Results enquiry |
| Feedback | £125 | Results enquiry |
| Remark, clerical check and feedback | £160 | Results enquiry |
| Appeals Stage 1 | £117 | Appeal against a decision |
| Replacement certificate | £48 | Replacing a hard copy already sent |
| Trackable UK delivery of a certificate | £12 | Postage |
| Deferral | £175 | "If applicable" |
Sources: resit fee from the CeMAP page; the rest from Walbrook's additional fees document, whose file name says 2024 but which is still the version Walbrook links. The exemption criteria are on Walbrook's recognition of prior learning page.
Resit limits
For each failed unit, the specification restricts you to three exam attempts in a week and ten attempts in any 12-month period, each subject to the resit fee. In practice, the limit that costs money is not the cap but the habit of resitting too soon. Two quick resits cost £240, which is more than most training courses charge for a single module.
Exam tip: A resit costs £120. Our Pro plan costs £11.99 a month. If a mock score below 70% is your warning sign, more practice is cheaper than another attempt.
What do Walbrook's optional revision products cost?
Walbrook's optional CeMAP revision products cost, as of October 2026: the CeMAP Revision Tool £90, £120 or £180, extra specimen exams £25 a unit or £40 a module, revision videos £125 and audio revision £50 per module group, and Ask the Expert £72 or £60.
| Product | Fee (as of October 2026) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| CeMAP Revision Tool (CRT), Module 1 (FSRE) | £90 | Exam-style questions, timed mode, feedback, all practice exams |
| CRT, Modules 2 and 3 (MORT/ASEW) | £120 | As above |
| CRT, all three modules | £180 | As above |
| Extra specimen exams | £25 per unit, £40 per module | Included in the CRT |
| Revision videos | £125 for FSRE; £125 for MORT and ASEW | 12 months' access |
| Audio revision | £50 for FSRE; £50 for MORT and ASEW | Audio clips |
| Ask the Expert | £72 or £60 (see below) | 3 months of tutor support |
All prices are from Walbrook's CeMAP page. Walbrook says the CRT "includes all practice exam questions", so if you buy it you do not need to buy specimen exams separately.
The Ask the Expert price
Walbrook's own page gives two prices for the same product. Its "Studying" section says "£72 for three months of tutor support", while its "Fees" section says "£60 for three months of online tutor support". We report both because we cannot tell which is current; check the price at checkout.
Are the extras worth it?
None of them is required. The included materials and one specimen exam per unit cover the syllabus. The CRT is the closest to exam practice, because it uses Walbrook's own question style. Videos and audio help if you find the study text hard going. Compare them with independent practice tools on cost per mock: our CeMAP practice papers guide explains how our mocks follow each unit's format.
Key fact: Walbrook's specimen papers are the only official practice papers. Walbrook does not publish past papers, so no product, including ours, contains real exam questions.
How much do training providers add to the CeMAP cost?
Training providers add about £200 to £1,250 to the CeMAP cost for all three modules, on prices published on 30 October 2026. Self-paced online courses are the cheapest, live webinars sit in the middle and classroom courses cost the most. Walbrook's fee is always extra.
| Course type | Typical published price, all three modules | Per module pair, where sold separately |
|---|---|---|
| Self-paced online or distance learning | about £200 to £850 | from £175 |
| Live webinar or virtual classroom | about £800 to £1,150 | about £500 to £600 |
| Classroom (in person) | about £1,050 to £1,250 | about £575 to £690 |
These are provider prices, October 2026, read on each provider's own pages and shown before VAT where a provider adds it; some add VAT and some do not say. A course never includes the Walbrook registration: every provider we checked states that the £735 (or module fees) is paid separately. Walbrook also says that using a learning support provider "is entirely up to you – it is not a requirement of your studies". Our CeMAP course guide compares named providers, what each includes and how to choose.
Exam tip: Before you pay for a course, check that it teaches FRE1, FRE2, MRT1, MRT2 and ASEW/ASSC by name. A course still describing seven units is teaching the structure that closed in 2026.
Can your employer pay for CeMAP?
Your employer can pay for CeMAP: Walbrook accepts corporate cohort bookings through corporate@libf.ac.uk, CeMAP is a mandated qualification in the Level 3 Mortgage Adviser apprenticeship standard, and some accredited providers can register students directly and invoice the firm.
There are three common routes.
- Corporate registration. Firms registering a group of trainees email Walbrook's corporate team, as the CeMAP page explains.
- Apprenticeship. CeMAP appears in the Mortgage adviser apprenticeship standard, a Level 3 standard in England. The employer and training provider arrange the qualification as part of the programme.
- Through a provider. Walbrook's Accredited Learning Support Provider page says it can extend an agreement so that a provider registers its students directly and is invoiced by Walbrook.
If you are not yet employed in mortgages, some firms recruit trainees and pay for CeMAP once you join. The trainee mortgage adviser guide covers those roles. Ask any employer offering to pay whether the cost is repayable if you leave within a set period; that is a term in your contract, not a Walbrook rule.
Key fact: Who pays does not change the qualification. Registration, exams and the certificate always come from Walbrook, whether you, your employer or a provider makes the booking.
What is the cheapest way to get CeMAP?
The cheapest way to get CeMAP is full registration at £735, self-study with the included materials and free practice, and passing each unit at the first attempt. Every resit adds £120, so preparation that avoids one resit saves more than most extras cost.
The order of savings:
- Register for the full qualification, not by module: £75 saved.
- Use what the fee includes: the study texts, the specimen exam for each unit and the tax table.
- Use free practice before buying anything. Our diagnostic, quick practice and mock 1 for every unit are free, with no account. The CeMAP self-study guide lists other free official sources.
- Avoid resits by sitting each unit only when your mock scores are well above 70%.
- Buy one paid product at a time, for the unit that is giving you trouble, rather than a bundle up front.
What you cannot do is get the qualification free. Walbrook's registration fee is the only route to the exams and the certificate. If your employer or an apprenticeship pays, it is free to you, not free in itself.
For whether the total is worth paying, see is CeMAP worth it. If you later add equity release advice, the CeRER qualification costs £275 more as of October 2026, according to Walbrook's CeRER page.
Exam tip: Your cheapest realistic budget is £735 plus one resit (£855). Plan for it, then try not to need it.
Your CeMAP cost and budget plan
Your CeMAP cost plan starts with the £735 registration, sets aside £120 for one resit, and adds paid study help only where a free diagnostic shows a weak unit. Start with FRE1, the first unit in Walbrook's suggested order.
| Step | Cost | When |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Take the free FRE1 diagnostic and mock 1 | £0 | Before you register |
| 2. Register for full CeMAP | £735 | When you can start studying |
| 3. Study FRE1 with the included materials | £0 | Weeks 1 to 4 |
| 4. Add paid practice for weak units only | £0 to £180 | As needed |
| 5. Keep a resit reserve | £120 | Hold it back |
Take the free FRE1 diagnostic first: 20 questions in 30 minutes, no account. Then sit the free FRE1 mock 1 in the real format, 40 questions in one hour with 28 to pass. If you want the drills for a weak area, the FCA, PRA and Handbook topic drill is the one most FRE1 candidates need.
Mocks 2 to 10, topic drills and case-study practice for all five units are part of Pro: £6.99 a week, £11.99 a month or £22.99 for 3 months, cancel anytime. A month of Pro costs less than a tenth of the registration fee and less than one resit. Our readiness rule is three mocks in a row at 85% or more, with every topic at 80% or more, before you sit the real unit. That is a guide, not a pass guarantee.
Key fact: In our reading, Walbrook's 18-month registration period starts when you register, so register when you can start studying, not before.
Frequently asked questions
+Is CeMAP worth the money?
For most people who want to advise on mortgages in the UK, yes: CeMAP is on the FCA's list of appropriate qualifications, and £735 is small next to an adviser's salary. Whether it pays off depends on getting an adviser role, because a pass alone does not let you advise unsupervised.
+Is VAT charged on CeMAP?
Walbrook's CeMAP page lists its fees without saying whether VAT is included or added, so we cannot confirm the VAT treatment. Ask Walbrook if you need a VAT invoice. Some training providers quote their course prices plus VAT, which is a separate charge from the Walbrook fee.
+Do I pay for each CeMAP exam?
No, not the first time. The first attempt at each unit exam is included in the registration fee, so £735 covers all five first attempts. You pay £120 only if you need to resit a unit.
+Can I pay for CeMAP in instalments?
Walbrook's CeMAP page does not offer instalments. The nearest option is to register one module at a time, paying £330, £320 and £160 as you go, which costs £75 more in total. Some training providers offer finance on their own course fees.
+How much is a CeMAP resit?
A CeMAP resit costs £120 per unit as of October 2026. Walbrook limits you to three attempts a week and ten attempts in any 12-month period for a failed unit, and every resit must fall within your registration period.
+Is it cheaper to register module by module?
No. Module-by-module registration totals £810, which is £75 more than the £735 full registration. It does give you 12 months per module instead of 18 months for the whole qualification, and it spreads the payments out.
